Under Texas Law both parents of a child are responsible for the care and support their child. When a child is born to an unmarried couple, the biological mother or the biological father has the right to pursue a paternity action.
A paternity action results in a court order, which legally establishes the biological father as the child’s legal father. Upon establishment of the man as the child’s father, he is usually awarded all the rights and duties of a parent pursuant to Texas law.
Attorney Christine K. Lincoln represents both mother and fathers in child custody actions.
