Practice Areas Overview

Houston, Texas Divorce and Family Law Lawyer

The Lincoln Law Firm, PLLC is located in the heart of the Cy-Fair area. We provide dedicated, experienced and personalized legal help in several areas of family law and will preparation.

We encourage you to contact our firm to schedule your consultation with attorney Christine Lincoln to discuss any of the following legal matters:

  • Prenuptial & postnuptial agreements — Prenuptial agreements and postnuptial agreements can protect the assets you acquire before and during your marriage in the event of a divorce. Prenuptial and postnuptial agreements may be advisable for second marriages, parties with substantial assets, small business owners or if there has been a substantial change in the marriage. Christine Lincoln can discuss your options and advise you regarding your situation.
  • Divorce & property division — In a community property state such as Texas, it is important to have attorney representation during divorce proceedings and in the division of property. Property is divided in a "just and right manner" - not necessarily an "equal" manner. Our firm is committed to protecting our clients' rights and ensuring a fair property division.
  • Stepparent adoption — We represent stepparents in uncontested stepparent adoptions. Stepparents often seek to become adoptive parents for emotional and financial reasons. In addition, a stepparent adoption can affect inheritance and future liability for child support in the event of a divorce.
  • Child support — Whether you are the parent paying or receiving child support, you can rely on our firm to seek fair child support payments. In Texas, child support is primarily determined by the paying parent's income. It may be possible in some situations to deviate from the state guidelines based on factors other than income, such as a child's special needs.
  • Paternity — If you are a biological father or mother who wishes to pursue a paternity action, attorney Christine K. Lincoln can provide seasoned counsel to protect your rights and assert your claim.
  • Modification of orders — If your income has changed, you can go back to court to modify child support obligations or change child custody and visitation arrangements.
  • Grandparents' rights — Grandparents have limited rights; however, grandparent visitation may be sought when doing so is in the best interest of the children - for example when the children have already established a close relationship with the grandparents.
  • Collaborative law — Many parties can reach satisfying and amicable divorce settlement agreements through the collaborative process. In a collaborative divorce, each party and their respective attorneys agree to resolve all issues out of court in an effort to minimize financial and emotional costs.
  • Will preparation — Our will package includes a will, a living will, a medical power of attorney and a durable power of attorney.
